It sounded intriguing. A scrambled quiche omelette. It wasnt. It was an omelette with random bits of quiche thrown in, served on a plate so hot I felt the need to request a pair of asbestos gloves. Not impressed with Petit Robert Bistro, 480 Columbus Avenue, Boston (South End) MA, Tel +1 (617) 867 0600.
This really was a sorry excuse for a breakfast. Shove the skanky leftovers of quiche into an overcooked omelette. Garnish with dried parsley sprinkles. Plate up two shriveled halves of potato. Scoop a fistful of limp carrot strips and green beans onto the plate. Et voila! Brunch.
Avoid this place like the plague.

Parent Teacher Conferences Coming Soon!
I am excited that parent teacher conferences are coming up soon. I checked the schedule and see that many of you have already signed up. Remember that you must sign up online. If you are having difficulty logging in to sign up, feel free to call Linda at 547-2300 and she will help you get set up.
Conferences are held next Tuesday, November 2nd, and Thursday, November 4th, from 2:30-8:00. Conferences each run 15 minutes long. We have lots to cover so I will be going through a variety of information in a short amount of time. Please be sure to be prompt and not late for your conferences as that will delay all conferences behind you.
Because I have 27 students, if any parents or guardians would like to schedule conferences on a different day either before school, after school, or at lunch, that is fine. Just contact me and we can set something up.
I am excited to share all the great learning happening the first quarter of school. As one of my students said the other day, "We are SO busy in 3B...the day just FLIES by". It was precious.....and true!!!

PhoneML Teleku Lets Explore It!!!
Hi,
Last day I Explored PhoneML by Teleku. It is very good "Phone Web Service API". Enterprise-grade, cloud-based RESTful Phone Web Service API for building speech & touch tone Voice and SMS phone applications! Control any phone with simple & open PhoneML XML or JSON Web responses that work with all Web programming languages.
The best part i found with Teleku is that i can easily test my application built on Teleku using "Skype" without need of any Phone etc. (My last experience was with Twilio, a very advance and cool TwiML APIs. But the applications i built on Twilio, i had to test it using a Phone, by that time they do not provide Skype support, as per my knowledge. Dont know, now they have provided or not).
So, it is very easy to build your extension applications on Teleku and test it on Skype. Here are the steps:-
1) Register for free on Teleku.
2) Make your sample application using <Speak> PhoneML as below
<phoneml><speak>Hello Dear, how are you</speak></phoneml>
3) Now you will be provided one extension number.
4) After saving your application , you will be provide some numbers to call including Skype. Just click on Skype call and you will be prompted for entering Extension number. After entering you will listen you message. Isnt it good.
Teleku Provide folloing PhoneML commands:-
i) <speak>
<speak> allows you to speak or read text-to-speech (TTS) sentences and data to the caller
ii) <play>
<play> allows you to play MP3, WAV, or VOX audio files to the caller.
iii) <input>
<input> allows you to specify input options (grammars) to collect from the caller. These options can include both numeric touch tone options or words for speech recognition (ASR). Values are separated by commas. If you are interested in allowing the caller to enter or say a string of digits, you may specify free form entry as <input>digits<input>.
iv) <record>
<record> allows you to record an audio file and post it to your desired URL.
v) <transfer>
<transfer> allows you to transfer the call to another number. Note: ";postd=ppp1234" or simply "x" can be added to the dial string to represent pauses in dialing.
vi) <goto>
<goto> allows you redirect the flow of the voice application to another URL for processing.
vii) <hangup>

That number had 35,000 hits on google yesterday.
It has 350,000 today. Its already on my blog. Its on countless others no doubt. Its on homepages, its on boingboing, Its on countless ytmnds. No doubts its being twittered. Theres a facebook group. Hell its probably got a myspace page. That a society speaking.
I know this is a skeptical blog. About bad science and silly religions. But I think Skeptical means it can extend into free speech and the media.
So Im going to talk about that number. And no, Im not a fucking pirate.
And Im going to do something stupid. Im going to do an analogy.
An analogy about cars.
Im a fucking fool.
But hopefully avoiding getting into the "but you wouldnt steal a car" nonsense piracy debate. This is about the media industries perceptions.
There are three stereotypes for car users.
1) The largest group is "The average joe" who buys a standard car, takes it to the shop to be repaired and doesnt think much about it.
2) A much smaller group is the "The hideous thief" who uses his technical knowledge of cars to steal them - which is different to copying media remember
3) The guy who buys a car, and fiddles with it, makes it run on a different engine, replaces the wheels, the suspension, the bodywork. Pimps it. Improves it. Changes it. Joins groups of like minded people who also love this true ownership of their cars. They work together to improve and modify. Sharing ideas and methods.
Now, nobody would say that because people use technology to steal cars. IR door openers. Jimmy sticks, hotwiring, that owner number 3 should be stopped from playing. No one can stop Number 3 from improving his car. You cant claim copyright on the bonnet and stop him from painting fire stripes on it. Or claim that he cant mess with the exhaust, or sparkplugs.
The movie industry see consumers the same way.
1) The average joe.
2) The pirate - who is different to a thief - but thats a different debate, and we can all agree that not supporting the developer of an IP you consume and enjoy is very bad and leave it at that.
3) The fringe. who want to watch films from a different region that havent been released in theirs. Who want to timeshift, want it to run on linux, their homemade myth tv box, want to make funny trailers as though film x was actually genre y. Wants to put it in his class presentation. Wants to rip it to their hard-drive to take on holiday. Want to satirize, want to inform, want to make a funny gif. Want to screen grab for their blogs review. Want to screen grab so they can write "THIS IS SPARTA!!!!"on it in a big font and use it on a forum.
But like the car industry they cant ban #3 just because #2 exist!
The existence of pirates should not - and cannot stop the fair use of material
Regardless of what the law says, nothing I listed in 3) is wrong - you should be able to do all those things. And a good citizen shouldnt refrain from doing it - just because a law says you cant. They should shout. They should complain. And they should be disobedient.
And crucially in our day and age - more people fit into section 3 than is realized. I think the older generation miss this shocking fact. Unlike the car industry most people, at least young people, are in #3.
Its my 60 year old mum wanting to watch an American DVD. Its my professor wanting to put his bought itunes on his non-ipod. Its an early adopter wanting to actually use his outdated HDTV. Its my dad not wanting to leave his genuine cds in the car. Its my grandma wanting to tape a tv show to watch at a later date. Its a Linux user wanting support they wont provide. Its a lecturer wanting to add a clip of a film they are discussing into a presentation.
That list is not a list of criminals. Its real people living a real life.
But bring this up and their argument in return seems to be. "That all well and good - but I think you are a pirate, and youre using fair use as an excuse." - which we are fucking not.
So dont be a pirate, but use your media, own your media.
We live in a world where taking a clip of a film, and changing the music, and editing the characters, is a feasible way to comment on the film. Even if its just to ridicule it.
That makes the world a more colourful, better place.
It isnt wrong.
That number gives people back the rights they should have from the start.

No one can ever say that blouses are out; it has been and will always be a perfect choice for any woman looking for something comfortable yet more polished than a normal t-shirt. This summer, blouses are simpler than ever with few comebacks that will fit perfectly for work or weekends.
Even though, tie blouses belong to the hippie era, they have made it through this summer as one of the hottest blouses. This doesn’t means that you should be running to your moms wardrobe trying to pick one of hers because this summer, a tie blouse is more casual and feminine than before so start shopping for one instead. Pair a tie neck with a pencil skirt and a fitting jacket for work and for weekends pair it with straight-leg trousers and a wide belt to get a slimmer look. Your best choice is this blouse if you have a long neck and slim body to add extra height to your body or if your bottom is rather heavy and you need extra attention on your upper part.
Another comeback from the ruffled pirate shirt is taking place this summer with a softer look than the one you are used to. This season, ruffled shirts may include soft ruffles down the front or a simple ruffle at the edge of a mandarin collar. A little lace on the ruffles will hip an ordinary pirate shirt. This shirt looks perfect if paired with either a slim skirt or wide-leg trousers and some heels. But its not necessarily your perfect shirt unless you have a heavier bottom as it’s an efficient eye catcher.
There is nothing that says sexy like a wrap blouse, which creates a curvy silhouette giving you a flattering look. This season your usual wrap blouse is everywhere in sheer fabrics with ruffles and tie neck to give you a bit of every blouse. All the previous make this shirt your ultimate choice if you are a heavier woman as it hugs you at the waist, giving you a smaller middle and curvier bottom. You can also pick a wrap blouse if your body was rather shorter as its v-neck gives the illusion of some height. This shirt is perfect for a dressy night if paired with a feminine skirt or conservative pants.
Sheers can create a totally different look for any blouse; picking a black blouse with little sheer can update your whole outlook. For high impact look, pair a sheer blouse with a contrasting color; however, if you are looking for subtler look, then pair it with a nude or a matching color. Sheer blouses can work great under a jacket for work or on your jeans for a night out. This add-in is perfect if you are looking for something to grab anyones attention to your upper half.

Just a doodle I did today to get back into the swing of things after a few days of vacation. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and ate lots of different goodies with wonderful company! Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it is Christmas party time! This gal is all dressed up and ready to go to her first holiday party. Eggnog anyone?
Also, since it is the holiday season and all, I thought it might be a good time to add a few more items to the ol Etsy shop. I just added a "Multitasking" print (see previous post) as well as a series of 5 small original mermaid paintings to the shop. Check em out! They all need good homes. I bought the disco pants (or as my boyfriend insists on calling them, my party pants!) about a week before and I looooove them! Ive worn them loads already and im planning a little video about how to style them if anyones interested in that? Im also totally in love with Zaras SS12 pieces right now, I thought the jumper would be perfect for the summers jungle print trend! annoyingly no jewellery in this post as I have a habit of taking my photos before I put my jewellery on at the moment which ill have to try and get out of! but I popped on my beloved Topshop spike necklace and a few DBB rings and jumped on a train to Landan!
