Parent Communication Logs Sweet Surprise
Parent Communication Logs Sweet Surprise
Happy Sunday all! Im so excited my COWBOYS won! My hubbys happy too so its a sweet day. Im stopping by today to explain how I communicate with my parents. I have been using this system
for the last few years and its a great way to communicate with parents!

I grab a few of these each and every year. They are so easy. You can check them out here on They are so inexpensive!
So let me walk you through how I use these. I use these to let parents know how their child is doing in class. I will send it home if a child is being chatty or if he/she is having a fabulous day. Its a great way to keep parents updates on what their child is up too in the classroom.
This is a fake note. But just a glimpse of what a sheet looks like. So what I love about this is that it has 2 parts. There is a white copy for the parents, and then a carbon copy right under that is a duplicate of the note your sending home.
This is important because you get to keep the copy you sent home and remember that you want the original copy signed.
The past few years, I have just been stuffing the notes in a drawer, completely unorganized and I would always forget if a parent signed it or not. Typical me. LOL But this year I realized I could store it in an accordion little pocket like the one above. I labeled the inside with the different marking periods so I know exactly what notes I sent and what quarter. Definitely important for when you have IEP meetings and parent conferences.
If you see I already start storing my notes for the first quarter. I had to chop off my thumb in this picture. Havent gotten a mani in about a month. God my nails are just terrible right now. LOL Moving on
. Im excited to be a bit more organized this year with parent notes. Phew! LOL
How do you communicate with parents? Id love to hear your ideas as well!

Parent Volunteers Needed
Parent Volunteers Needed
Friday, September 11th, is "Fuel and Fitness" Day at Crestwood. Students will be involved in activities such as bouncy houses, walking the track, and enjoying watermelon. This is a district wide celebration in which students are encourage to stay fit and get moving while eating healthy.
3rd graders will be enjoying the bouncy houses from 11:00-11:45. I am looking for 1-2 volunteers to help monitor the bouncy houses during that time. If you are interested and can volunteer, please email me or call me at school. If I have more than two volunteers, I will put the names in a hat and draw two names.
Thanks so much! Looking forward to a fun day!

Parent Wish List with Oriental Trading
Parent Wish List with Oriental Trading
Happy Monday all! Its back to school time and I am excited for a brand new school year with little students to get to know. We have our full first week back so I need to be energized! I have a big group this year but they are so cute, I forget all about it once they walk through that door! They are so smart too. So Im excited to see what they are capable of!
Before school started, I was stressed. I had to go back to school shopping and that requires me getting supplies, rewards, decorations and so much more. Its hard to do it all on a budget. Right?!
I was able to team up with Oriental Trading and come up with a wish list. Theres so much we would love to do for our class, but its hard to do it all. With a wish list for parents, your able to let parents know what exactly you want and hope they can donate something off your wish list.
This could help a ton, especially at the beginning of the year!
A great way to showcase a parent wish list is this cute little display

You can grab this cute freebie from Teach Create Motivate here. Im going to set this up and show the parents at Back to School Night next week.
I created my wish list and then got everything on my list! Im not patient. LOL
Instead of having parents donate, you can always make a list of what ya need and grab and go.
So what did I get? So many goodies that I cant wait to use!
First lets start with my most favorite thing ever!
My storage baskets! These baskets are perfect for markers, pencils, reading phones and so much more. I love the way it looks behind my reading desk. Check out these storage baskets by clicking here.It comes in a set of 6 and its the perfect amount.
What do you spy in those baskets?
PENCILS!
I always have a shortage of pencils. They are always missing, stolen, or broken. With this mega stack of pencils, your little ones will always keep these safe. They have such cute designs, wether its smiley faces or hearts or soccer balls. These pencils are cute and I cant wait to use them as an incentives for those hard workers!
What else do we spy in those storage baskets?
Read to Self Phones!
Okay seriously, my little ones LOVED these last year! My cuties would go to their reading center and pick up a phone and read to themselves. It was so nice to see. Its excellent for phonemes awareness and the kids are able to monitor themselves as they hear themselves reading on their own.
What a great buy! And who doesnt love the bright colors ?
I also added dice to my wish list.

I use these all the time for math centers, roll and cover and bingo. Its a great way to reinforce number recognition, addition and more. Check out these foam dice here. The size is perfect for the center bins!
The last item on my list will probably be used daily!

Dry Erase Number Line Sheets
These will be used so much, I already know. We work on number lines at the beginning of the year and use it all throughout the year. I love that you can write on it as you jump up and down the number line and then ERASE! Easy Peasy!
Okay, so after I received these products and loved them, I had to go back to Oriental Trading for some more supplies. I cant wait to receive them in the mail and put them to use! Stay tuned for that next.

Parent Teacher Conferences Wonderful!!
Parent Teacher Conferences Wonderful!!
I had 100% turn out for parent teacher conferences! Yeah! It is wonderful when parents and families work together with their childs teacher to benefit the child. Isnt that what is most important? So thank you to all the parents for coming to parent teacher conferences! I loved sharing all the great things happening in 3B and talking about goals for each child to continuing building. Please remember that communication is key and we are in this together!
As I mentioned at conferences, students are finishing up their science test - a hands on assessment applying learning to create a Videolicious video. I told parents that most students would be done soon, and they are! I will post 3-4 videos on our class Facebook page throughout the next few days as well as post some on this blog page. The video created is a connection to the "big ideas" in our science unit of "Plant and Animal Populations". Stay tuned. An assessment rubric was used to assess each video as well. Those will be sent home as well.

Parent Teacher Conferences Coming Soon!
Parent Teacher Conferences Coming Soon!

I am excited that parent teacher conferences are coming up soon. I checked the schedule and see that many of you have already signed up. Remember that you must sign up online. If you are having difficulty logging in to sign up, feel free to call Linda at 547-2300 and she will help you get set up.
Conferences are held next Tuesday, November 2nd, and Thursday, November 4th, from 2:30-8:00. Conferences each run 15 minutes long. We have lots to cover so I will be going through a variety of information in a short amount of time. Please be sure to be prompt and not late for your conferences as that will delay all conferences behind you.
Because I have 27 students, if any parents or guardians would like to schedule conferences on a different day either before school, after school, or at lunch, that is fine. Just contact me and we can set something up.
I am excited to share all the great learning happening the first quarter of school. As one of my students said the other day, "We are SO busy in 3B...the day just FLIES by". It was precious.....and true!!!
