Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Saturday vowed to go ahead with his plans of a lockdown of the capital on 2 November, 2016.
Talking to reporters near his Bani Gala residence, Khan advised PTI supporters to travel in groups, saying when they arrive in small numbers the police "puts them in jail".
He also hinted to PTI supporters that instead of taking the main route where police is stationed, they should opt for hidden routes to arrive at the site.
Reiterating his plans to put up a grand show in Islamabad on Nov 2 to seek accountability of the prime minister Khan said: "This is Nawaz Sharifs dictatorship, not a democracy... we will show Nawaz Sharif on Nov 2 what democracy is."
A day after PTI workers skirmished with police in twin cities and scores of protesters were taken into custody, Khan came out of his residence to meet hundreds of supporters who have come to support him parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
He asked the supporters, many of whom set up camps and spent the night near the PTI chiefs residence, about their comfort and directed his party managers to ensure their well being.
Breakfast for the supporters was prepared in large cauldrons. Some PTI workers did warm-up exercises and push-ups in the morning.
Meanwhile, life returned to normal in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday, as the previous days crowds dispersed. Traffic flowed as usual although police contingents remained deployed in sensitive areas.
Activists must come
PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has accused the government of blocking routes in KP and Punjab which lead to Islamabad.
"The government is blocking Attock bridge and Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway," he said while talking to DawnNews. "This is a clear violation of court orders."
He said the Punjab government itself "locked down Rawalpindi, shut the Metro, schools and routes for ambulances but we are being blamed for the lockdown".
"Containers are being placed but the people’s spirits are rising everyday."
He urged PTI supporters to reach for the "peaceful protest at any cost".
Virtual house arrest
Imran Khan remained under virtual house arrest at his Bani Gala residence on Friday as police teargassed and baton-charged scores of PTI’s workers before bundling them into prison vans in the twin cities.
Later in the evening, the PTI chief emerged from his residence for a brief period along with other party leaders only to tell the media that no government action would deter him from staging the Nov 2 lockdown of Islamabad.
“Wait for Nov 2, a PTI tsunami will sweep even a contingent of 50,000 policemen to D-Chowk,” Khan said. It appeared to be the first indication that the PTI might reach the place located in front of Parliament House where it had staged a sit-in for three months in 2014.
Intermittent clashes between PTI workers and the police took place on different spots in the twin cities. A hide-and-seek between the police and protesters that began after Friday’s prayer, continued till night.
PTI and the government have locked horns since the names of members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs family appeared in the Panama Papers leaks.
After months of verbal duels between the parties, Imran Khan announced plans to lay siege on the capital on Nov 2, and vowed to stay put until Prime Minister Nawaz resigns or presents himself for accountability in the backdrop of the Panama Papers scandal.
The government remains adamant that it will not allow the PTI to shut down Islamabad and action will be taken against the party according to law if it challenges the writ of the state.

Pakistan inflation eases to 3 81 percent in November
Pakistan’s annual inflation rate fell to 3.81 percent in November from 4.21 percent in October, mainly fuelled by food prices, the Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.
On a month-on-month basis, prices increased by 0.21 percent in November compared with October, the bureau said.
Average inflation for the July-November period stood at 3.92 percent, compared with the same period last year.
The steepest rise in year-on-year prices was seen in the prices of garlic, gram, pulses and potatoes. The steepest drop in year-on-year prices was in the prices of onions, tomatoes and petrol.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan values its relations with Belarus.
ISLAMABAD (BharakahuPk News) - Pakistan and Belarus have signed fourteen agreements and memorandum of understanding in the fields of trade, finance, science and technology, vocational training, education and culture.
The understanding came during talks between the delegations of the two countries, led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the visiting President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Welcoming the visiting delegation, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan values its relations with Belarus. ‘Our two countries enjoy a warm, cordial and multi-faceted relationship. Pakistan is keen to forge closer ties with Belarus in all fields including trade, economy, investment, industry, education, defence, agriculture, culture and other areas’, said the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said that the momentum of increased high level exchanges between the two countries needs to be maintained.
The Prime Minister informed the visiting President that his government is focused on reviving the economy, overcoming the
energy shortage . ‘We are committed to good governance, curbing corruption, ensuring fiscal discipline and widening the tax base to revive the economy to its true potential’, added the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan today is one of the most investor friendly countries; offering excellent opportunities for foreign investors with investment-friendly regulations and a huge market of nearly 200 million people.
The Prime Minister said, ‘I am happy to note that both sides have established various platforms and tools to promote trade, business and investment between the two countries, which provides a solid basis for enhancing multi-dimensional relations’. The Prime Minister further said that establishment of Joint Trade Committee is an important vehicle to identify bottlenecks and resolve issues in trade relations of both the countries. The Prime Minister noted that both the Joint Economic Commission and the Joint Trade Committee are actively pursuing these issues.
Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus said that Belarus has significant expertise in building of heavy machinery including automotive engineering, agricultural harvesting machinery, road construction machinery and dump trucks. He added that both sides can develop joint ventures and business-to-business contacts in these areas.
Mr. Alexander Lukashenko further said that Belarus and Pakistan need to explore the possibility of creating joint ventures for the production and processing of wide range of agricultural products, including the production of milk powder, other dairy products, textiles, auto parts, surgical instruments, pharmaceuticals and other areas of mutual benefit.
The President applauded the government of Pakistan for making huge successes in the revival of economy. The president supported Pakistan’s stance in nuclear supply group.
Talking in the context of regional peace and stability, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan pursues the policy of maintaining good relations with all its neighbours. ‘Pakistan wants peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues with India, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. I want to thank you for your expression of support for peaceful resolution of kadhmir dispute said the Prime Minister.
Nawaz Sharif further said that India has deliberately escalated tensions at the LoC in order to divert the attention of the international community from the grave situation in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He informed the visiting President that more than 110 innocent people have lost their lives, and more than 12000 have been injured, with hundreds in critical condition.
"More than 700 people have suffered severe eye injuries due to the use of pellet guns by the Indian occupation forces and more than 150 have become permanently blind," said the Prime Minister.

Pakistan Turkey vow to further enhance defence ties
Pakistan and Turkey have resolved to further enhance existing defence cooperation, declared Turkish Minister of National Defence Fikri Isik during his visit to Pakistan in June.
He said understanding was reached between Islamabad and Ankara during series of meetings with civil and military leadership of Pakistan.
Isik met separately with President Mamnoon Hussain, Counterpart Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff committee General Rashad Mahmood, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakullah And Chief of Air Staff.
Speaking t the visiting dignitary, President of Pakistan Said that Pakistan and Turkey are bound together in fraternal bonds which are tooted in shared history, religion and culture, The President commended signing of agreement between Pakistan, Turkey and Qatar for training of personnel and transfer of technology.
The President Thanked Turkey for gifting Pakistan Trainer-37 aircraft and hoped that the two brotherly countries would increase cooperation in the defence field and benefit from each other’s expertise.
The President invited Turkish delegation to participate in IDEAS-2016 to be held in November this year in Pakistan.
He extended his sympathies over tragic loss of lives in recent suicide attacks in Turkey and underlined that both countries as united to uproot the menace of terrorism and extremism.
ISik said that cooperation between the two countries in trade and defence sectors in below actual potential and called for steps to increase bilateral collaboration in these fields.
The Turkish Defence Minister reiterated his country’s resolve to continue efforts for achieving peace in Afghanistan and hoped that the Quadrilateral Coordination Group’s efforts in this regard will bear fruit.
Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif While welcoming the Turkish delegation said both countries enjoy exemplary and historical relations.
Both sides reiterated strong desire to deepen, broaden and strengthen their partnership in defence sector.

Former US ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter said that Pakistan did not know that Osama Bin Laden was residing in Abbottabad but the incident deepened mistrust between Islamabad and Washington. He said this while speaking at a dinner hosted by chairman Pathfinder Group in honour of former Chief of Army Staff General (retd) Raheel Sharif on Wednesday. “Those who claimed that Pakistan knew about the whereabouts of bin Laden were wrong,” said Munter, who is currently president of East-West Institute. Saudi-born Osama bin Laden, who was killed in Pakistan in 2011 by an elite team of US Navy SEALS after a decade on the run. Following the killing, Washington revealed that Pakistan was kept in the dark to avoid tipping off the mastermind behind the September 11, 2001, attacks. The former envoy said that the killing of the al Qaeda leader inside Pakistan further deepened mistrust between both the countries. “Terrible mistakes were made due to deep mistrust,” he added. The former envoy said Pak-US relations were greatly affected by ‘two myths’. “The Pakistan myth is that Americans used Pakistan when it needed and abandoned it afterwards while the US myth was that Pakistan would not be a reliable partner despite getting billions of dollars in aid, both military and civilian”, he added. The problem is that there was little truth in both of these myths and that deepened the mistrust, he said. He said that the US took seven months to apologise for the Salala attack —in which 24 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom —at the Afghan-Pakistan border which further deepened the mistrust. Munter admired former military chief Raheel Sharif, saying the “General showed a style of openness to achieve goals.”
